TAC Training

Training for Adoption Competency (TAC) is a national training program designed for mental health practitioners to gain clinical knowledge and skills to effectively serve the adoption kinship network. TAC is an accredited post-Master’s curriculum designed by C.A.S.E. with the assistance of a National Advisory Board of adoption experts. The TAC cohort includes 55.5 NASW‑approved continuing education hours.

WHO IS THIS FOR

Post graduate clinicians working with young people who have been adopted or are in kinship or foster homes. Upon completion of the final assessment, this program is approved for Continuing Education through NASW.

WHEN ARE THEY

Trainings are held the twice a month via Zoom from January 2027 - November 2027, from 9am – 12:30pm.

  • Module 1 - Students will complete this first online independent module by January 12th
  • Module 2 - January 14 and January 21, 2027, from 9am to 12:30pm (virtual)
  • Module 3 - February 11and February 18, 2027, from 9am to 12:30pm (virtual)
  • Module 4 - March 11 and March 18, 2027, from 9am to 12:30pm (virtual)
  • Module 5 - April 8 and April 15, 2027, from 9am to 12:30pm (virtual)
  • Module 6 - May 13 and May 20, 2027, from 9am to 12:30pm (virtual)
  • Module 7 - June 10 and June 17, 2027, from 9am to 12:30pm (virtual)
  • Module 8 - July 8 and July 15, 2027, from 9am to 12:30pm (virtual)
  • Module 9 - August 12 and August 19, 2027, from 9am to 12:30pm (virtual)
  • Module 10 -September 9 and September 16, 2027, from 9am to 12:30pm (virtual)
  • Module 11 -October 7 and October 14, 2027, from 9am to 12:30pm (virtual)
  • Module 12 (final) - November 4 and November 11, 2027, from 9am to 12:30pm (virtual)**modified cadence due to holiday

ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Participants must complete all TAC modules, including the online e‑module and all 11 classroom‑based modules.
  • Participants may miss no more than two full‑day (or four half‑day) sessions and must complete the required make‑up assignments to receive attendance credit.
  • Missing more than two full‑day sessions places the participant at risk for removal from the cohort, as additional absences cannot be made up under program policy.
  • Participation in case consultation is required — participants must attend five case consultations and present at least one case as part of the certification requirements.
