The KPI program is designed to promote a permanent commitment by a kinship caregiver(s) through becoming guardians and custodians over minor children who would otherwise be unsafe or at risk of harm if they remained in their own homes. Kinship Guardianship Assistance Program (KGAP) provides financial assistance to eligible kinship caregivers who have been granted legal custody or guardianship of a child that was placed in the home as a foster care placement for at least six consecutive months.

The Post Adoption Special Services Subsidy (PASSS) program is a federally supported program for post-adoptive families of children with special needs. PASSS provides up to $10K in funding per adopted child with special needs per year, to help cover the costs associated with specialized services, resources, and more.

KSP provides financial payments to eligible kinship caregivers for the placement of children in their homes.

SAMS program provides financial assistance to families based on children's special needs at the time of the adoptive placement. To be eligible for SAMS, the adoptive family's gross income must not exceed 120 percent of the median income of a family of the same size.

Parents who are thinking about or are in the process of adopting a child from foster care should know about adoption assistance (also known as adoption subsidy). Adoption assistance programs are designed to help parents meet the needs of children they adopt from foster care. Children can qualify for federal adoption assistance or state assistance, depending on the child’s history.

The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) provides federal grants to states for supplemental foods, health care referrals, and nutrition education for low-income pregnant, breastfeeding, and non-breastfeeding postpartum women, and to infants and children up to age five who are found to be at nutritional risk.

Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) is the federal program that funds many cash assistance programs across Ohio. The dollars provide a monthly payment (through the Chase Ohio Pathway Card or direct deposit) to low-income families with minor children at home.

The Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program pays benefits to disabled adults and children who have limited income and resources. SSI benefits also are payable to people 65 and older without disabilities who meet the financial limits.
